The purpose of this Q&A is to provide you, our members, with a complete understanding of why this unique merger is beneficial for you and your family, as well as the future growth and success of our new credit union.

The Board of Directors of Self Reliance Baltimore Federal Credit Union (SRBFCU) voted to pursue a merger with UKRFCU. On May 13, 2023, a vote of Baltimore Self Reliance members approved moving forward with the merger. The date of the conversion will be Saturday, September 23, 2023.

SRBFCU is merging with UKRFCU to provide you with even more benefits and services as a credit union member. Our two organizations share many of the same values and combining our resources will bring together the best of both! UKRFCU is a full-service financial institution that offers free checking with mobile check deposit, VISA debit and credit cards with access to over 30,000 surcharge-free ATMs, a variety of mortgage loan options along with investment property loans, vehicle and personal loans, online banking and mobile banking app, and much more!

Your savings and checking account rates were adjusted to the current rates at UKRFCU on June 1, 2023.

All existing SRBFCU member share certificates will remain at the same rate until maturity.

At the maturity date, you will have the option to renew your share certificate based on the rates offered at that time. All Share Certificate rates are published here.

 

Your existing loan rate(s) and payment(s) will continue to fall under the Terms and Conditions of your current loan agreements. Any new loans will originate directly with UKRFCU. All loan rates are published here.

Yes. Your SRBFCU Debit card will work until the data conversion on September 23, 2023. We will issue you a new UKRFCU VISA Debit Card and you will receive it before September 23, 2023. That will replace your SRBFCU Debit card.

Yes. You can continue to use your existing checks until the data conversion on September 23, 2023. You will receive new UKRFCU checks before September 23, 2023, at no cost to you, in the mail that will replace your SRBFCU checks.

When you receive your new UKRFCU checks be sure to destroy your previous SRBFCU checks once the conversion is complete, since your previous checks will no longer be valid.

No. Each year you will still be given an opportunity to run for the Board of Directors and/or vote in the annual election. This is a benefit of your status as a member/owner of UKRFCU.

Starting September 1, 2023, we will be implementing new hours of operation to ensure that we are available when you need us most. These changes have been carefully considered to accommodate various schedules and provide flexibility for all our valued customers.

Monday – Friday: 9:30am – 4:30pm

Saturday and Sunday: Closed

The combining of our credit unions will take place between June 1, 2023 and September 23, 2023. Here is the tentative timeline:

June 1, 2023 – Merger effective date. SRBFCU members become UKRFCU members and will have access to UKRFCU’s share certificates, loans, mortgages, and more.

September 23, 2023 – Data conversion to UKRFCU technology and data processing platform, which will give you access to the following UKRFCU services: • Online banking system with many new features • Mobile banking app with remote deposit • Upgraded Visa debit card with access to over 30,000 free ATMs nation wide • Zelle • Easy loan payments online • VISA credit card with many benefits and rewards • And much more!

Our goal is to provide a seamless transition. Throughout the process, you will be able to access your account(s) as you did before. During the data transition on September 23, 2023, some planned interruptions in the electronic systems will be expected.

By now you should have received a Welcome Package in the mail that included a Welcome Letter, the Merger Support Guide, and the UKRFCU Membership Agreement and Disclosures.

This Merger Support Guide is a step-by-step information resource regarding what to expect during the conversion of your account data.

You will continue to be able to use the Home Banking System that you are accustomed to accessing. Upon conversion of data systems on September 23, 2023, you should have received a Welcome Package that includes instructions and updated information on how to access the UKRFCU Online Banking System, which will also provide you with access to the UKRFCU Mobile App and additional digital services.

 

Your existing SRBFCU VISA credit card balance will stay at the rate that you currently have.

You are welcome to apply for a UKRFCU Visa Credit Card. All new purchases and cash advances on the new UKRFCU VISA Credit Card will be under the new terms and conditions that will be communicated to you in a separate mailing.

Yes! Your deposit accounts will remain insured at the same level as before. The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) insures all deposits up to $250,000 per account.
